Deacon Roy from Saint Charles Catholic Church, organized a Giving Tree this year. They accepted over 100 Christmas wishes from children served by Caritas.
“I just want to say THANK YOU for reaching out to us. [G] hasn’t worked since the beginning of the pandemic and JUST started training for a new job. I’m a brittle diabetic. I have extreme high levels but also have extreme low levels. His job was wanting to make him work nights but he couldn’t because of me. So, they let him go. This will be a blessing for our children. So, thank you so much!” ~Christmas Client
Private donors have stepped up to provide an array of Christmas surprises like decorated bags of sweets, colorful playdough, gorgeous handmade quilts, and cozy knitted items!
And in a twofold blessing, we were given certificates to Egger’s Meats so our clients could pick out a special holiday entree. What a great way to serve our clients AND support a local business.
Like everyone, Northwest Harvest was limited by pandemic restrictions. Their annual food drive with Safeway stores took a major hit. But, just in time for the holidays, Safeway has amazingly come through to provide NWH with specialized gift cards (restricted for food purchases) to distribute in lieu of the normal food kits.
Caritas is thrilled to be an outlet for NWH to distribute these gifts to our clients!
To the volunteers working exhaustively, to our supporters in the community, to our faithful churches, and to our cherished clients, we wish you a Merry Christmas!
