Thanksgiving! 2022

We have so much to be grateful for this year.

From our new home with Northside Church of Christ …

… to the full shelves of food provided by Second Harvest, Northwest Harvest, Feed Spokane, our Grocery Rescue Partners (Albertson’s, Safeway, Natural Grocers, Yokes), local churches, Knights of Columbus, and all of the amazing individuals seeking to care for their neighbors in need …

… and the 101 volunteers who have gifted us 9,915 hours of labor!

We were also blessed with an additional 14 turkeys (with a combined weight of 211 pounds!) by the employees of Sonderen Packaging just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Caritas is making an effort to respond to dietary and culturally appropriate food needs for our clients. We are thrilled to offer a Client Choice model in our new space that allows clients to “shop” directly from the shelves and self select the foods their household can use. This prevents food waste and preserves personal dignity. For Thanksgiving, we had clients pre-select items from a list (or write in their own favorites) that would best help them enjoy their family’s holiday traditions. We went shopping and Volunteers tailored personalized Thanksgiving Boxes that were distributed this week with turkeys/hams and a generous helping of fresh produce, baked goods, and pantry staples.

We are looking forward to building relationships this year with our clients, our supporters, and our community! We love to see the growing engagement on our Facebook page and getting our name out in the news:

There are many families still reeling financially from the pandemic and we want to get the word out! Help is available. Your community cares!
